Grove Sandwort

Arenaria lateriflora

Flowers white, small, 5 petals.

This small woodland plant only reaches 6-8 inches in height. Notice how the single flower is held on a long stalk branching off from the main stem, thus earning the specific name "lateriflora". The 5 petals are not notched as is typical in the Pink family, but note the bluish-black anthers.
